Primary School
Yew Tree Farm School is an independent special school providing education for children of primary school age who require a specialist, nurturing setting. Our school is based on a working farm and offers a calm, structured environment where children are supported to engage with learning, develop emotional regulation and build positive relationships.

Our approach to learning
At Yew Tree Farm School, learning is shaped around the individual needs of each child. We recognise that many pupils require support to feel safe, regulated and ready to learn before academic progress can take place.

Our farm-based setting allows children to engage in learning that is practical, meaningful and rooted in real-life experiences. Outdoor learning, routines and relationships are central to our approach, helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
• Small group teaching and high staff-to-pupil ratios
• A structured, predictable day
• Strong emphasis on emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Learning through outdoor, practical and farm-based activities
• Close collaboration with families and professionals
Curriculum overview
Our curriculum is adapted to meet the individual needs, abilities and starting points of each pupil. While many children are chronologically of primary school age, their learning may be aligned with Early Years or Key Stage 1 frameworks, depending on need.
Alongside academic learning, we place a strong emphasis on communication, social development and emotional wellbeing. The curriculum is flexible and responsive, enabling pupils to make progress at a pace that is right for them.
Admissions and referrals
Placements at Yew Tree Farm School are commissioned and funded by Local Authorities. Children are referred through Local Authority SEN teams or in partnership with other professionals.
We work closely with Local Authorities, parents and carers to ensure that placements are appropriate and that the school can meet a child’s needs effectively.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding is a fundamental priority at Yew Tree Farm School. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where the welfare of all children and young people is promoted and protected. Our safeguarding practices are underpinned by clear policies and procedures and are embedded throughout the school.
